Delaware Grants for LED Stop Signs, School Zone & Pedestrian Safety

Alert Lighting Co.

Delaware municipalities and schools have a couple of DelDOT administered paths to help pay for roadway and pedestrian safety upgrades, including LED stop signs and flashing school zone signage.

Alert Lighting Company builds MUTCD compliant, solar powered LED safety signs that fit directly into the scope of these programs.

Note: DelDOT is finishing its 2026 to 2030 Strategic Highway Safety Plan, which will guide safety funding priorities statewide, including a Safe System Approach focused on eliminating fatalities and serious injuries. DelDOT's site also lists at least one funding cycle closing November 1, 2026. Confirm with DelDOT which current program that deadline applies to before you build a timeline around it.

How These Programs Line Up With Alert Lighting Products

LED Stop Signs for Roadway Safety Priorities

Delaware's Strategic Highway Safety Plan is built around the Safe System Approach and reducing serious injuries statewide. A solar powered LED stop sign is a fast, documented way to add visibility at a known crash location.

Flashing School Zone Signs

Delaware's Safe Routes to School program has funded school zone infrastructure statewide for years. A solar powered LED school zone sign fits directly into that scope.

Pedestrian Crossing Visibility

The Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside specifically names vulnerable road user safety assessments as an eligible activity. A flashing LED pedestrian crossing sign is a natural follow-up project once a crossing has been flagged.

What to Prepare Before Applying

  • Crash history or site documentation showing the safety need
  • Spec sheets and MUTCD compliance details for the equipment being requested
  • An itemized quote covering signage, mounting, and installation

Alert Lighting can provide all three for any Delaware project.
